Other things to do in Paris
A few free activities...
The Pavillon de l'Arsenal: A 'center for information, documentation and exhibition for urban planning' doesn't sound very exciting, but this space which includes permenant exhibits on the history of urbanisation in Paris and videos of the latest projects is a fascinating and relaxing place to spend a couple of hours.
La Fée Electricité. Raoul Dufy's monumental and breathtaking painting (pictured left) can be viewed for free in a specially created room at the Musée d'art moderne de la ville de Paris. The permenant collection of the Musée is also always free to visit.
Le Jardin des Plantes. Where I recharge my spiritual batteries! The museums and zoo that surround the gardens come at an additional cost, but it's always free just to wander round and relax in this historic and peaceful environment.
The 104: Municipal funeral services building becomes fantastic space for contemporary art. In truth it still seems a little cavernous and empty, but the building is worth the visit alone, especially when entry is free!
Le Musée Carnevalet: The nearest you'll find to a history of the city of Paris in a fascinating old townhouse in the Marais.
