Paris is the most visited city in the world, but how many people ever get to the real heart of the place? On a short break time is tight and it can be difficult to break away from the traditional tourist trails, whilst long-term residents tend to get trapped in the routines of everyday life. We would all like a personal tour guide who could show us new places and tell us the stories behind these sites, but few of us would be willing to pay the high prices professional guides charge. Anyway, wouldn’t we all prefer to just take these tours at our own pace without constraints of time and pre-defined programmes?

 

It is for this reason that I have created a series of original walking tours around the city, available to you as completely FREE PDF downloads. These won’t take you to the traditional tourist areas but will show you a different side of the city, an invisible side where ordinary people live and work, but which nevertheless is filled with fascinating places and incredible stories.

Yes, completely free. Free to download and also the freedom to follow the guides as and when you want. This project stems from my desire to share my knowledge and experiences of the city with as many people as possible, and to show you a side of Paris that you may not be familiar with. I would walk you all around the city myself if I had the time, but as I have to work, I am offering you these PDF documents instead!
 

This site and the walk documents are also an extension of my http://www.invisibleparis.net blog, where many of the items have previously been featured. These walks are a way of bringing these posts together according to a selection of themes and geographical locations, and also to ensure that they continue to live on. 
 
The Walks

The walks are provided as freely downloadable PDF documents featuring full descriptions of points of interest as well as a map and a selection of original photos. Each walk is based around a particular theme, and generally in a limited geographical area.
